'rock abama

The kids are interested in Barack Obama. We try not to say much about politics one way or the other but when we have the news on the kids ask about who is who and what they want the country to do. They say "but which way is the right way?" and I'm always saying "Well it depends on how you look at it. I think everyone wants to look at it the right way but different people have different ways of thinking about it." I hope that sort of sums it up without creating too much bias for them? Judah is way into presidents these days, especially Abraham Lincoln. Lolly calls him Hammerham Linkin. Today Lolly insisted on writing a letter to Barack Obama (Rock Abama, she says it) and putting a stamp on it and mailing it. The letter said, "Dear Rock Abama. I like you. I like you when you stand on the stage."

I guess Dave Matthews is back in town? I got this text from Carrie today.

Carrie: Dave Matthews just apologized to me for his daughters almost running over my toes with their bikes.

Me: Did you do a zany dance and play your air fiddle?

Carrie: Of course! And I said "it's ok, they didn't CRASH INTO ME."

We're dorks.

I'm still waiting for my apology from Dave Matthews for making music. What an asshole.

I think you are doing the right things with the kids and politics, but I like that they instinctually seem to have gone for the better man. Good on them. Did you send Lolly's letter to Rock Abama? I think he would love it if he got it.

One time, when I lived in Seattle, my sister came to visit me. She was driving in my neighborhood and she almost ran over Dave Matthews, who was crossing at one of those annoy-o Wallingford crosswalks that pop up all-of-a-sudden.
We had a good laugh.

We've been trying to keep things factual with El as well: these are the candidates, why it's important to vote, etc.

The other evening while we were at the PCC she spotted the latest cover of Atlantic and screamed "Look dad, John McCain!!" It's all we could do to calmly acknowledge her comment without swaying her, or defending ourselves to everyone else standing in line with us "Don't worry we're voting for Obama..."

Talk about being stuck between a Rock Abama and a hard place...

I have to ask...You are so pro Obama but did you care this much for Kerry? I hate how just because it is Barack Obama everyone is jumping on this "can't have a republican" bandwagon. Where were all these "hardcore" democrats in 2004?

I think the democrats weren't so hardcore in 2004 because the war hadn't been dragging on as long and we were promised "victory" and pullout, but four years later it's still going on, and also our current devastating economic state adds to that. Not to mention all the other stuff.
I don't know if I love Obama so much as I am really super sad about the current administration. So anyone sounds good. But I do love Obama as a person and in all those other ways. So yes, maybe I am really pro-Obama. :)

Oh I'm sorry, what did you say Jojoellen? Your post is so ridiculously written and barely readable I stopped after the first line.

You seem like a terrible person, Jen.

oh sorry Jenn. let me put it in simple terms for you. I voted for Kerry in 04 and I am voting for Barak in 08, why? because i research people and where they stand on the issues. One last thing and this might confuse you. I am registered republican, but i still like my friend here Stephanie and many more friends i have that have different political views that are often more conservative then mine and i can actually hold non hosti8le conversations with them . I hope you can to some day, it may open your eyes to something other then your narrow little world.
