Yesterday I was driving back from the airport with the kids and as I was getting on the express lanes in rush hour traffic Lolly decided to climb out of her seatbelt. There was nowhere to pull over so I tried to scare her back to safety and screamed "IF YOU DON'T GET BACK IN YOUR GODDAMN CAR SEAT I'M GOING TO CRASH THIS CAR AND THEN YOU CAN'T GET A HOT DOG AT TARGET!"
It was a low point.

Yikes. Did she obey? Did she get her hot dog in the end?
:( Sounds like a super hard day. :(
I hope the weekend gets a little brighter for you all. :)
HAAAA! That's freakin' hilarious! Someday i want to be a mom just like you, where even the low points are really really funny.
That would have scared me back to safety too! I guess it really is true what they say, being a mom is the hardest job in the world.
Those are the times when spanking is ok in my book. scaring kids into safety...a-o-k!
go, mama, go!
yelling and hot-dog denial is awesome.
we've all had our moments, thanks for sharing!
Rachel, thanks for your encouragement! I wrote that post and then decided not to post it, then later went back and posted it cause surely we've all been there and nobody likes to talk about it.
I was very encouraged by Anne Lamott saying she wanted to hold colicky Sam by the legs like a wishbone and bang him on the wall. I mean, that's horrible, but we all think horrible thoughts and it helps to know we're not alone.
Oh my gosh. That's hysterical (really)... but not, of course. I remember when Tucker decided to unbuckle and climb out of his carseat right as we were crossing the Canadian border. I almost had him for lunch.
