I’m so excited to see my sister and new niece soon! My best friend in high school, Jamie, and his wife live in Chicago too and we’re going to see them for the first time in years. I love his wife. There’s something so wonderful about being around fellow southerners again, even if it is in Chicago. We’re just different, we all ask about each other’s families and we really do give a shit. How’s your mom? How is that cousin of yours that was visiting last time I was here? How is your grandmama? Or Mee-maw or Pa-paw. Here, eat some gravy.

My african-american coworker brought chitlins today which I love and she said “high five for the white girl who likes chitlins!” I’m a cultural honkey.
